BATH (AP) — A group of experts will come to a Maine city to discuss the effects of an invasive species of moth on the community.

Officials with the University of Maine say the group will discuss the impact of the browntail moth on the city of Bath on Feb. 22.

The moth has the ability to defoliate trees. It also has tiny hairs that can cause a rash and respiratory problems in humans.

Speakers at the event will include local arborist Kyle Rosenburg and UMaine Extension staff member Lynne Holland. The university says someone from the medical community will also attend the event.

The Feb. 22 event is scheduled to take place at the Patten Free Library at 6 p.m. and it will be free and open to the public.
