GORHAM — The Little East Conference announced its weekly honors for women’s indoor track and field Monday afternoon with the University of Southern Maine receiving four of the five honors.
Competing at the annual State of Maine Indoor Championships, the 4 x 200-meter relay quartet of freshman Jhanel Potts, senior Liz O’Neal of Brunswick, sophomore Penny Maimone and sophomore Heather Kendall recorded its fastest time of the season at 1:45.75 to finish second. The Huskies’ time ranks them third on the latest New England Division III performance list.
The Huskies scored 155.50 points to edge out Bowdoin College and Colby College for the second spot in the final team standings.
Bates College won its fourth consecutive state title with a total of 215.50 points. Bowdoin was third with 147.50, and Colby took fourth with 139.
Southern Maine will host the 2017 New England Alliance/Little East Conference/ MASCAC Championships this upcoming Saturday (11:30 a.m.) at the Costello Sports Complex field house.
