
The Mt. Ararat High School boys basketball team put a scare into undefeated Medomak Valley, trailing by just two points entering the fourth quarter.
But, the Panthers pulled away for a 57-46 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory as the Eagles fell to 4-13. Mt. Ararat visits Edward Little in its season finale on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Trailing 16-8 after a quarter, the Eagles out-scored the Panthers, 27-21 over the second and third frames to close to 37-35. Jared Balser scored 11 of his team-high 21 points in the third to help Mt. Ararat.
Cameron Allaire came through for Medomak (17-0), scoring 11 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Kyle Donlin hit four 3-pointers and had 17 points for the Panthers.
Cam Cox nailed five treys and scored 16 points for Mt. Ararat.

WALDOBORO — Gabby DePatsy had a game-high 17 points to pace Medomak Valley to a 50-34 KVAC win over Mt. Ararat.
The Eagles (3-14) were led by Nikki Bradstreet’s 12 points, with Katelyn Cox and Kate Guerin chipping in six points apiece. Bradstreet and Theresa Breed each pulled down five rebounds, and Bradstreet had five steals. Kyla Greenleaf dished out four assists.
Hallie Kunesh picked up 12 points for the Panthers, who also received eight boards from Chelsea Ripley.
Medomak held quarter leads of 13-8, 29-12 and 39-21.
Mt. Ararat finishes its season on Thursday at home against Edward Little (7 p.m.).

The host Seahawks won their 28th straight home contest in Mountain Valley Conference play.
Page Brown paced the Boothbay win with 18 points, followed by Faith Blethen with 15.
Wiscasset, 1-16 and slated to visit Madison on Wednesday at 7 p.m., received 10 points from Hayhlee Craig.

The Seagulls used a 19-0 run spanning the first and second quarters for a Class C South win over the Phoenix, who fell to 3-14 and visit Pine Tree Academy on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Old Orchard Beach (10-6) led 17-2 after a quarter, 28-8 at the half and 44-20 through three.
Victoria Niedzwiecki paced balanced OOB with eight points.
Timesha Walker scored a game-high 11 points for Hyde.
