A Madison man was arrested on drug charges and a woman living with him was issued a criminal summons after a drug raid Thursday morning on Russell Road in Madison, in which bags of heroin and cash were seized by police.

Randell Woods, 31, is charged with trafficking in heroin, a class B felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison if he is convicted. He is charged additionally with possession of a heroin, a class C felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.

Katy Nickerson, 26, was issued a summons to appear in court on charges of trafficking in heroin, class B, and possession of heroin, class C, according to Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster.

There were also two children under the age of 10 in the home when police arrived and executed a drug search warrant just before 8 a.m., Lancaster said.

Police seized 20 bags of heroin, several used bags of heroin, about $4,700 in alleged drug proceeds, digital scales, drug-related documentation, marijuana and drug-related paraphernalia, according to Lancaster.

Lancaster said the bust was part of a continuing drug investigation in Somerset County.

The search warrant was carried out by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office’s Detective Unit, led by Lt. Carl Gottardi, which was assisted by uniformed deputies, the sheriff’s office agent assigned to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and a state police trooper.

Woods was taken to the Somerset County Jail in East Madison for processing.
