The Morse High School boys basketball team dropped a 44-43 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference decision to Camden Hills on Friday at Bath Middle School.
The Shipbuilders’ (3-9) struggles at the freethrow line, 5- of- 19, cost them the win, along with 12 missed layups and 26 turnovers.
“ It was our worst performance of the year, execution, poise, efforts, not there,” said Morse coach Brian Bennett, whose Shipbuilders are scheduled to visit Oceanside tonight at 6:30 p.m.
The Windjammers jumped on top 15-8 in the first quarter, but Morse slowly closed the gap, getting to 20-18 by halftime. The Shipbuilders claimed a 32-31 advantage through three.
Dakota Freeman hit four 3- pointers and scored a game- high 26 points in the loss. Thomas Warren chipped in eight points.
Girls
CAMDEN — Morse committed 30 turnovers in a 60- 38 KVAC loss to Camden Hills on Friday.
The Shipbuilders fell to 4-8 and are slated to host Oceanside tonight at 6:30 p.m.
Camden held quarter leads of 13-5, 33-11 and 48- 23.
Noa Sreden paced Morse with 18 points, with Sierra Wallace adding five and Isabella Monbouquette chipping in four.
Mara Dostie led the Windjammers with 13 points, followed by Kassie Krul and Mia Deward with eight apiece.
