FREEPORT

The Freeport High School boys basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter for a 47-44 Western Maine Conference win over Old Orchard Beach on Monday.

The Falcons improved to 3-7.

OOB (5-5) claimed a 22-21 halftime lead and the Seagulls led 36-32 heading to the fourth quarter. But the Falcons out-scored the visitors, 15-8, down the stretch for the win.

Ethan Sclar, Connor Dostie and Toby Holt paced Freeport with 11, 10 and nine points, respectively.

Ian Regan scored a game-high 15 points for OOB, with Thomas Fregeau adding 10 points.

Freeport visits Fryeburg Academy on Friday and hosts Sacopee Valley on Saturday.

MT. ARARAT 54

The visiting Red Eddies stayed unbeaten in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play in Topsham.

The Eagles, 2-0 and scheduled to visit Leavitt on Friday at 6:30 p.m., stayed close throughout. Even at 12 through a quarter, Mt. Ararat trailed 30-25 at the half.

EL put up 20 points in the third quarter for a 50-39 contest.

Jarod Norcross-Plourde and Samatar Iman each had 18 points in the win, while Darby Shea hit five 3-pointers to finish with 15 points.

Jared Balser had a big game for the hosts, putting up 25 points. Ryan Mello chipped in 16.

Boys hockey

PORTLAND — Gus Lappin and Owen Patrick each scored a goal in the second period as South Portland/Freeport/ Waynflete captured a 2-0 win over Windham/Westbrook at William Troubh Arena.

The Red Riots won their third straight game and improved to 4-5-1 on the season.

Max Wilson and Aidan Schifano each picked up an assist in the win, and goaltender Joe Grant turned aside 20 shots for the shutout.

BRUNSWICK 3

GORHAM 4

The host Rams rallied from a 3-2 third-period deficit for a Class B South win over the Dragons, who fell to 2-7-1 and takes on rival Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/ Morse at Watson Arena on Saturday at 8:15 p.m.

Carter Landry lit the lamp three times for Gorham (4-5), including the final two goals that came 2:29 apart unassisted.

Landry gave the Rams a 1-0 lead 2:11 into the game off assists from Adam Peterson and Lucas Roop.

Brunswick tied the contest 19 seconds into the second period on a Michael Eno shorthanded goal from Michael Deveaux and Andrew Eno.

But, Gorham went into the intermission with a 2-1 lead as Peterson scored off assists from Landry and Roop.

Brunswick answered 23 ticks into the final frame on Michael Eno’s second goal (assisted by Jacob Doring and Deveaux), and claimed a 3-2 advantage when Scout Masse converted a Deveaux feed at 4:48 on the power play.

Landry tied it with 5:23 remaining, and gave Gorham the win with 2:54 left.

Brunswick held a 28-26 shot advantage, with Riley Kirk making 22 saves in the loss. Noah Bird picked up 25 saves for Gorham.

AUBURN — Edward Little out-scored Mt. Ararat 42-11 over the second and third quarters en route to a 64-21 KVAC win over Mt. Ararat.

The Eagles (2-9) trailed 9-4 after a quarter, but a 23-7 EL advantage in the second frame made for a 32-11 halftime score.

Jordyn Reynolds and Grace Fontaine each scored 16 points for the Red Eddies (10-2).

Nikki Bradstreet hit three 3-pointers for nine points to pace Mt. Ararat, which hosts Leavitt on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Kate Guerin picked up seven rebounds and Kyla Greenleaf had six caroms.

Girls hockey

LEWISTON — Jordyn Mynahan powered her way to two goals and an assist as Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill downed Brunswick, 4-3, at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

The Blue Devils improved to 5-6-1, while the Dragons dropped to 6-8.

Jenna Brooks scored the opening goal for Brunswick, with Lydia Ginty and Beth Labbe assisting.

Lewiston tied the game by the end of the opening frame, and added three more goals the rest of the way.

Brunswick takes on rival Mt. Ararat/Morse on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

RED HORNETS 10

Host Edward Little/Leavitt/ Poland scored five goals in the opening frame and rolled to a win over Mt. Ararat/Morse (0-13) at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.

Eagles goaltender Lily Schenk had 35 saves.

Taylor Callier and Saige Arsenault paced the Red Hornets with two goals and two assists.
