BRUNSWICK

Ryan Collins scored early in the opening period and Peter Haber had 21 saves as Cape Elizabeth downed Brunswick, 3-0, in Class B South boys high school action at Sidney J. Watson Arena on Monday.

The Dragons dropped to 2-4-1 and take on rival Mt. Ararat/ Lisbon/ Morse on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Watson Arena. The Capers improved to 2-3.

Phil Tarling set up Collins’ goal, and Tarling netted an unassisted marker early in the second period to double the lead. Jackson Woods scored into an empty net late in the third period to close out the scoring.

Brunswick goaltender Riley Kirk had 25 saves. The Dragons were 0-for- 3 on the power play and killed all five Cape Elizabeth man-up chances.

Girls hockey

BRUNSWICK — Kristina Cornelio had three goals and three assists, and St. Dom’s out-shot Brunswick, 28-7 en route to an 11-1 victory on Monday at Watson Arena.

Cornelio got the Saints (11-0) on the board early with an unassisted goal at the 4:14 mark of the first period. She then assisted on a pair of goals by Bugsy Hammerton, the first at the 4:21 mark followed by the next score just 12 seconds later.

The Saints finished the period with a 7-0 advantage as Isabelle Fernette added a pair of goals along with Addie Suckow’s tally before Cornelio pushed across her second goal of the period to round out the scoring.

Marilyn Daniel and Nadia Lerner made 17 combined saves in the loss for Brunswick, which fell to 5-6 and takes on rival Mt. Ararat/ Morse on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
