BIDDEFORD — Southern Maine Health Care will make an appearance in the Rose Parade on Jan. 2.

SMHC’s President and Chief Executive Officer Ed McGeachey has written a dedication to be featured on the Donate Life Float — which since its 2004 debut has inspired people to become organ donors — among dedications written by CEOs from hospitals across the country.

“With this rose dedication, Southern Maine Health Care publicly recognizes our staff’s dedication and commitment to organ and tissue donation. We are excited to be part of this celebration of life watched by millions on New Year’s Day,” McGeachey wrote.

This year’s Donate Life Float boasts the theme, “Teammates in Life,” which mirrors the parade’s theme, “Echoes of Success.” The hospital says the two themes are a reminder that no one succeeds alone, and that success comes by working together, much in the way donors save thousands of lives across the country each year.
