THE MT. ARARAT/BRUNSWICK high school wrestling team took first place at the Cony Duals tournament in Augusta on Friday, a third consecutive tournament win for the Eagles/Dragons contingent. The Eagles/Dragons took first place in their pool and battled the Cony Rams and Skowhegan Indians to determine first place. The Eagles/Dragons were led by five wins by Jabbar Belin at 126 pounds, Christian Jensen at 138 pounds, Robert Hetherman 170 pounds and Dylan Schenk at 220 pounds. It was a team effort with Ben Laurence 106 pounds, Caden Kowalsky 113 pounds, Josiah Langworthy 120 pounds, Cody Holman 132 pounds, Austin Cook 145 pounds, Brett Raio 152 pounds, Ethan Minchin 160 pounds, Matt Ducatt 182 pounds, Brady Mitchell 195 pounds and Logan Conkling at 285 pounds pulling off two or more wins each. Brady Mitchell sealed the first-place finish with a pin against John Tucker from Skowhegan. Mt. Ararat/Brunswick will travel to South Berwick on Thursday to wrestle at the Noble Tournament.
