A Waterville man has been arrested in connection with drug trafficking charges following a months-long investigation by state drug agents.
Darrick Delile, 37, was arrested Thursday on allegations that he sold heroin to undercover agents in central Maine, according to a news release from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. Authorities said Delile, a convicted drug trafficker, was already on probation for Class A drug trafficking.
Drug agents searched his property and seized about 30 grams of heroin — with a street value of about $6,000 — and $2,000 in cash that officials believe are proceeds from illegal drug sales. Authorities also seized a Mercedes sport utility vehicle belonging to him.
Delile was charged with four counts of Class A aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (heroin) and violation of probation.
Delile’s previous offenses involved convictions on charges of aggravated trafficking in cocaine and criminal forfeiture of $5,300 on June 12, 2013, in Waterville. Delile, living in Winslow at the time, was sentenced in 2014 to five years in jail, with all but nine months suspended, and placed on probation for three years and ordered to pay $400 in restitution.
Following his arrest Thursday, Delile was taken to the Kennebec County jail in Augusta, where he was being held on $80,000 cash bail.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said it was assisted in the investigation by the Oakland and Waterville police departments, and that more arrests are possible in connection with the case.
