WHEN DOUGLAS DECAMILLA'S THIRD-GRADE CLASS got together to discuss a holiday gift exchange, they decided to do something else entirely. They decided to raise funds to purchase brand new books for children who go to Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program (MCHPP), just a few blocks away from their school. Within two weeks, the students had raised enough money to purchase seventy books to entertain children whose ages range from preschool to high school. Ethan Minton, program director at MCHPP, reserved a bookshelf in the new waiting room for these books, making them easily accessible to patrons, who are welcome to take them home. On Thursday, six third graders from Mr. DeCamilla's class delivered the books.
