TOPSHAM — Mt. Ararat Middle School seventh-grader Emily Bontatibus has been invited to attend the Gurlz Got Game regional basketball middle school showcase in Easton, Pa., from Dec. 16-18.
She was one of 25 seventh-graders selected to attend the invitation-only event. The event attracts the top girls middle school basketball players from the region to play in a three-day competitive basketball showcase.
Players will then be selected for a national team, which will play in Las Vegas in February.
Bontatibus is the only girl from Maine selected to attend the event. She plays AAU basketball with Blue Wave Basketball in Portland and also plays for Mt. Ararat as a center. She was the most outstanding player at the Capital City Clinic run by Paul Vachon this summer and a member of the All- Star teams for Hoop Camp and the Blue Wave Summer League this summer.
