After further investigation from state police, the death Sunday of Westbrook resident Michelle Minor is no longer being considered suspicious.

Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland confirmed Wednesday that police aren’t considering the death suspicious, after the investigation was initially handed over to state police Nov. 27.

Minor, 42, was found in her apartment at 23 Brown St. in Westbrook early Sunday morning. Westbrook police initially deemed her death to be suspicious.

According to Westbrook Police Capt. Sean Lally, Westbrook police officers responded to the Brown Street apartment at 8:20 a.m. Sunday following a report of a deceased person.

“During the initial investigation some facts and circumstances arose that prompted a request for assistance to the Maine State Police,” an earlier press release stated. “MSP Detectives responded to the scene and have taken the lead in the death investigation with Westbrook PD providing assistance to them.”

A call to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta was not returned by the American Journal’s deadline Wednesday.
