A Topsham man was killed early Thursday morning when the pickup truck he was driving veered off a road in Topsham and struck several trees.
Nicholas D. Oram, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene on Foreside Road, according to a statement from the Topsham Police Department. Oram was a resident of Foreside Road.
Police believe Oram’s 2002 Dodge pickup failed to negotiate a curve, skidded and swerved off the right side of the road before hitting the trees just after midnight. Speed is considered a factor in the crash, police said, and noted that Oram was not wearing a seat belt.
The accident is being reconstructed by members of the Topsham and Brunswick police departments.
