After a spectacular day yesterday things have turned 180 degrees this morning. Skies will be cloudy this morning with a few scattered showers. The steadier rain will hold off until this afternoon and especially for the evening commute.
That big full moon lots of you saw Sunday and Monday is also bringing high tides to the region this morning. There is a coastal flood warning for the coastline of Cumberland and York counties and an advisory posted farther north. This mean some of the shore roads that typically see flooding will get water over them just before and after the time of high tide. The advisory is up from 10 a.m. this morning until 2 p.m. There could be some beach erosion during that time as well. This is not a big event.
The rain is heaviest this afternoon and evening. I am expecting total rainfall to end up around an inch. Some places will remain under that amount while others go over. The map below shows total rain through Wednesday at sunrise. Notice the heaviest rain is forecast to occur over eastern areas. This is but one model, so the final amounts won’t look exactly like this, but it gives a good idea of what is coming today.
As we progress through the night the rain will taper to showers and then some clearing will ensue. I expect Wednesday to be a day that may start with some clouds, but the trend will be for more in the way of sunshine and it will be quite pleasant. Look for highs getting well into the 50s to perhaps 60 degrees in a few towns in interior York County.
The dry weather continues into the start of the weekend, before changes occur Sunday. That day brings the chance for some rain and colder weather. Thanksgiving week looks to be an active week of storminess. I’ll have better details in the coming days.
