The moon rises over Casco Bay Sunday evening behind a barren tree at Fort Allen Park on Portland's Eastern Promenade. The supermoon is extra super, as it's the closest the moon has been to Earth since 1948, according to WCSH6 meteorologist Jessica Conley, who noted the moon won't be this close again until Nov, 25, 2034. It's technically full at 8:52 a.m. Monday This is actually our second supermoon of this year, with one more still to come on Dec. 14. November's full moon is also called the Beaver Moon or the White Moon, Conley said. Jill Brady/Staff Photographer
