It’s the first full weekend of November and a return to standard time. Remember to set your clock back one hour before you go to sleep Saturday evening. The sunrise Sunday morning will be of course nearly an hour earlier than today, and therfore the sunset will also be an hour earlier.
After a mild day earlier this week, the weekend temperature pattern will be significantly colder.
High pressure will take control over the weekend and since it is of Canadian origin look for colder air to be in place.
A weak weather system Saturday may bring some flurries mostly in the mountains.
If you’re playing soccer, softball, football, or golf…
Each morning features chilly conditions with possible frost delays on some courses. Look for wet grass early where the temperature remains above freezing.
If you’re going skiing.
The warm weather has prevented nearly all ski areas from opening, but this weekend’s chill will get the snow guns going. Killington in Vermont is reportedly open, but always call ahead.
If you’re raking and gardening…
Winds won’t be enough of a factor this weekend to hamper leaf raking. Look for cold mornings and chilly afternoons. Local nurseries still have some stock on sale. Purchase and ask how best to winter over.
If you’re hiking or walking or running…
Dry conditions are great for any active afternoon. Runners will need warmer weather gear for hands and head early, but lighter stuff in the afternoon will be fine.
If you’re running errands…
Either day is going to be dry and sunny. No issues on the roads from the weather. Get shopping done early to avoid the crowds.
If you’re going to another outdoor…
Any outdoor event will happen with full cooperation from the weather. Shady areas will be cool, especially Saturday.
I will be updating the forecast on Twitter @growingwisdom throughout the weekend.
