It is very rare indeed when a person, qualified in the practice of law and living in Standish, steps forward to take on community service. Right now we have a wonderful opportunity to elect Pam Smith to represent us in the Maine House of Representatives District 23. In Pam we would have a thoughtful, wise and experienced person representing us in Augusta. Many of us are seeking those qualities in our legislator.
Pam has been a resident of Standish for 18 years. She is married with one son, three stepchildren and three grandchildren. Her children have all been educated in SAD 6 schools.
Pam has spent her entire career working with children and families. After receiving an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Maine, she worked for 10years as a paralegal, the last five of which were in the Maine Attorney General’s Office as a liaison to Child Protective Services. She entered law school in 1991 when her own son graduated and was headed to college.
Pam has been a guardian ad litem for 15 years, acting as an advocate for children involved in court cases. From divorce to Child Protective Services cases, she solely assesses “the best interest of the child,” according to the state mandate, and makes decisions for their welfare.
Pam is asking for your vote because she believes that to get any meaningful work done in the Maine Legislature, one must work across the aisle. Pam is thoughtful, intelligent and clear thinking. She is committed to educating our children to their highest potential. She knows that small businesses are the backbone of our communities, and that a healthy, well-trained and educated work force would be an asset for any business.
Please give Pam Smith your consideration when casting your ballot on Nov. 8.
