The Western Maine Conference Championship unfolded at St. Joseph’s College in Standish on Friday afternoon, Oct. 14, and the Tri-Town area teams continue to look impressive. On the boys’ side of things, Falmouth took first among the Division I competitors, with 27 points, while Freeport took second with 60. Cape Elizabeth followed in third (102 points), with Greely in fourth (113), York in fifth (118), Kennbunk in sixth (129), Yarmouth in seventh (154) and Gray-New Gloucester in eighth (200).
York won the DI girls team title (47 points), with Falmouth in second (58), Cape in third (62), Yarmouth in fourth (114), Kennebunk in fifth (127), Fryeburg in sixth (134), Greely in seventh (190), Freeport in eighth (199) and G-NG in ninth (240).
In DII action, Wells grabbed the boys crown (32 points), while Maine Coast Waldorf took second (57), Waynflete third (69), Poland fourth (122), St. Dom’s fifth (125), North Yarmouth sixth (131) and Lake Region seventh (155).
St. Dom’s won the DII girls competition (31), while Wells took second (65). Poland finished third (78), MCWS fourth (84), Waynflete fifth (90) and Lake Region sixth (152).
Individually, Freeporter Henry Jaques ranked second among DI boys, finishing seven seconds back from Jeremiah Sands of Falmouth. Tucker Pierce of MCWS took first aong DII boys.
