I am writing in support of Pam Smith, who is running for state representative here in Standish. (House District 23)

Standish has changed dramatically over the years and continues to change with new young families moving here. They are hard working and want to raise their families in a welcoming community, but they reflect a Maine that is changing. They are open-minded and expect that the person representing them in Augusta will listen to all reasonable ideas for job creation that also protect our environment.

Everyone, regardless of age, wants to live in a town and state with a quality of life that reflects their values. We want to support seniors in our community being able to stay in their homes. We want young people to be able to stay in Maine and make a decent living. We need great schools and want our graduates to have the education needed to have productive lives and pay taxes. We need someone who can take the long view into the future, not someone who immediately says “no” to any constructive new ideas

We want results and positive movement from our state legislators, not nonproductive partisanship. We need a new voice in Augusta – someone who would look out for all the people in Standish. Pam would bring a breath of fresh air to the State House if we elect her to represent the people of Standish. I know Pam and I see that she speaks sincerely from her heart about her concerns for children, seniors and the people of this town. Pam would be a great advocate for our community because she has had real-life experience listening to and working effectively with people with different backgrounds and different needs.

Please join me in voting for Pam on Nov. 8.
