WELLS — As the regular season winds down for Wells high school sports, many teams are hoping to close our the year strong.

A handful of girl’s teams are looking to qualify for the playoffs in the finals games.

The Wells volleyball squad currently holds the final seed in the Class B playoff picture. The Warriors have been on a roll recently, earning wins over Thornton Academy, York and George Stevens Academy.

Wells volleyball coach Ryan Fairchild has been pleased with his club’s recent performance.

 
 
“It’s huge – you’re better off putting your destiny in your own hands instead of someone else’s. They need to keep doing what they’re doing,” said Fairchild.

The field hockey team has also had a solid campaign, hoping to take a shot at the state title as well, along with the cross country squad, which has enjoyed a strong season atop the standing throughout the fall.

Although the girl’s soccer team has had a down season, it still looks to finish strong this week and earn its first win of the fall.
