TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School “A” field hockey team improved to 3-0 with a 2-0 victory over Oxford Hills on Friday.
Brynn Charron scored two minutes into the game as the Eagles grabbed a 1-0 lead.
Defensively, Mt. Ararat’s Jaimey Weidner stood tall in stopping several Viking runs to the goal.
In the second frame, Mt. Ararat broke through for a big insurance goal. Gracie Morrell flicked a shot toward goal that Hannah Huston tipped to Emelia McKenney, who deposited the ball into the cage.
Jazzy Huntsman, Maddie Daulerio, Ashlynn Beebe, Paige Witwicki and Brook Vermette played well for Mt. Ararat, along with goaltenders Lexi Brillant and Bailey Rioux, who combined on three saves.
