Woodland race, 9 a.m. Oct. 2, Jefferson

Join Hidden Valley Nature Center for its Race Through the Woods, featuring a half-marathon and a 5-kilometer race. Racers will traverse portions of the nature center’s 1,000 acres, and run over granite ridges and along ponds. A kids’ obstacle course run will be held at 10:30 a.m. Prizes will include food and goods donated by local businesses, as well as gift certificates to running stores. The cost is $35 for the half-marathon and $25 for the 5K. To register, go to www.hvnc.org.
