BIDDEFORD — The Biddeford football team extended its undefeated streak to five games Friday night with a 42-19 win over York at Waterhouse Field.

The Tigers rushed for over 300 yards on the day, and added four rushing touchdowns as well. Biddeford also passed for three more touchdowns in the win.

“I think we’re pretty explosive on offense,” said Biddeford head coach Brian Curit. “I think we used our halfbacks a lot more than we had and I think you have an idea of the type of football player Brady Crepeau is. Joey Curit, you also think about how Austin Dutremble got in the mix, Cam Lantagne, (Colin) Lavigne. We have a lot of good weapons … I don’t know if we’ve done a good job of spreading the ball around but we did today.”

“When people think of Biddeford they think of our fullback. Tonight it was great to get the running backs involved and the passing game involved and show people that we can do some other things,” said quarterback Joey Curit.

Biddeford wasted little time getting on the board, taking its first drive all the way for a score on a 10-yard pass from Joey Curit to Lavigne. Joey Curit would throw another touchdown pass less than five minutes later, this time to Dutremble to extend the lead to 13-0 in the first quarter.

Curit would connect with Dutremble early in the second quarter to further extend the Tigers lead to 21-0.

However, the Wildcats would not go down without a fight, and running back Andrew Rodrigues would score on an 8- yard run with four minutes remaining in the half, bringing the score to 21-6. York would carry the momentum into the second half, with Rodrigues hauling in a touchdown pass to cut the lead to 21-13.

York would later take another drive into the Biddeford zone, but Lavigne put an end to the threat by getting an interception. The Tigers would eventually get a 32-yard rushing score from Crepeau to bring the score to 28-13 with 40 seconds left in the third.

The Tigers continued to roll, recovering a forced fumble just five seconds later on York’s first play of scrimmage to give Biddeford possession on the York 17. The Tigers would take advantage of the turnover by scoring on the first play of the fourth quarter on a 1-yard rush by Lantagne, putting the game out of reach at 35-13.

“We just needed to stick to our game plan. We made a couple of mistakes on that drive but we made some adjustments and figured it out,” said Joey Curit.

Lantagne would score another rushing touchdown later in the quarter, along with York’s Ryan Daley.

Brian Curit was happy with his team’s effort throughout the week, as the Tigers set the tone in practice.

“Last week’s practice was the best we’ve had. I was very proud of that … this is a blue collar group, the seniors know what’s at stake and they’ve worked really hard,” said Brian Curit.

Dutremble was also happy with his team’s hard work and to represent the city of Biddeford as well.

“It means a lot – there’s a great tradition here in Biddeford and we’re proud to represent the city and to show them that football is back,” said Dutremble. “We bring it every day at practice. We run to the whistle every single play, it’s a great atmosphere at practice.”

The Tigers improve to 5-0, but Brian and Joey Curit feel there is still more work to be done.

“I think in the Class B South there’s no week off. I’m proud of the kids but what does 5-0 get us? Not much. We still make mistakes and we won’t be satisfied until we get to where we need to be,” said Brian Curit.

“It’s great to be in the conversation and it’s great to be 5-0 but we need to keep improving,” said Joey Curit.
