Raymond Village Library news
• Welcome new library director Allison Griffin. Joining us from Bridgton, Allison is an experienced library director, information resource and technology specialist with 15 years of management experience in all library operations. The library will hold a Columbus Day open house for the community to meet Griffin. Coffee and donuts will be served at the library from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Oct. 10.
The Board of Trustees would like to thank the library staff for pitching in over the last few months. Special thanks to Connie Bouchard, Karen Perry and Lisa MacDonald.
• High-speed internet
In cooperation with the Maine State Library Network and the town, a new high speed internet line has been installed in the library. The signal to the parking lot has also been improved. The new 100 Mbps line provides 50 Mbps speed inside the library and up to 30 Mbps in the parking lot.
• Christmas Basket Fundraiser
It is already time to get ready for the annual basket fundraiser. Donations are being accepted at the library. Ribbon, baskets and all the goodies to fill them are needed. Got a creative idea? Let us know.
• Plants wanted
RVL is getting ready for spring. With recent fall temperatures and the leaves starting to turn, many of us are getting our gardens ready for the winter. One important fall activity is the thinning and dividing out plants.
The library has set up an outdoor area to accept your extra plants, which will be planted in the Community Garden so that we can get ready for our spring plant sale. Potted, bare-root or newspaper-wrapped plants can be dropped off in the marked outdoor area next to the library.
• Back Wall Repaired
The final section of the library has been re-sided. The old Masonite siding has been replaced, old heating ducts removed, trim repainted and all of the wiring cleaned up. Thank you to the volunteers Jim Gass and Mark Jordan who accomplished this. All materials were generously donated by Hancock Lumber Company.
Pot Luck with a Purpose
