York County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man in Waterboro early Tuesday after he allegedly broke into the same home twice.

According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy Normand Jr., 35, broke into a home on Back Road around 12:30 a.m., waking the resident. Deputies said the woman was home with her two children and had a handgun, which scared off Normand.

But Normand, who deputies said had been drinking, went around to the rear of the house, tore off a door, cutting his finger in the process, and re-entered the house.

When deputies arrived, Normand was talking with the woman’s two young children. Deputies said Normand, the woman and the children knew one another because they live in the same neighborhood.

The cut on Normand’s finger required stitches.

Normand was charged with criminal mischief and criminal trespass and was being held on $500 cash bail for both charges. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
