Starting Saturday, Sept. 17, any customer at the Steep Falls Farmers’ Market who receives SNAP benefits can receive up to $10 in coupons to spend on food at the market.
Interested SNAP/EBT cardholders should visit the Sweet Relief Farm booth or the information tent to pick up the coupons and to get more information on the program.
The market is considering the launch of a full SNAP program next season, which would allow EBT cardholders to do their food shopping at the market.
By providing the SNAP coupons this fall, the market aims to gauge interest and see what impact it might have on the market and the community, according to Julee Applegarth, market manager.
The market, which is located by the gazebo in the park at 1 Main St., is open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. every Saturday now through the end of October.
