BRUNSWICK
The Brunswick Topsham Bridge Design Advisory Committee will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the upstairs conference room of the Brunswick town office.
The 17-member committee is meeting to discuss aesthetic issues and welcomes input from the public. The committee has tried to recruit landscape architects, artists, design specialists and anyone interested in the aesthetic components of a new bridge should Maine Department of Transportation decide to replace the 85-yearold Frank J. Wood Bridge rather than rehabilitate it.
Discussion could focus on design elements, colors, railings, lamp posts, viewing platforms and even ideas about memorializing the existing bridge in the event a new bridge is constructed.
All of the design advisory committee meetings are open to the public. The Brunswick town office is located at 85 Union St., and the meeting will be held in room 206.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
