State and local officials are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed two structures at a Lucky Day Auto in Lebanon early Monday morning.
The fire was reported at the business on Creamery Hill Road around 1:15 a.m. When the Lebanon Fire Department arrived on the scene two minutes later, they found a heavy fire in two trailers next to the building, according to the Lebanon Fire Department.
The fire appears to have started in a camper trailer and quickly spread to an adjacent storage trailer. The storage trailer was filled with vehicle parts, which made it difficult for firefighters to access the inside, according to fire officials. The fire also spread to a car and SUV sitting in front of the camper.
Firefighters searched the camper for possible victims, but were able to determine after speaking to the property owner that no one was living in the camper.
The fire was extinguished by 2:19 a.m. and the State Fire Marshal’s Office arrived on scene at 2:45 a.m. to being an investigation.
Fire officials say the fire is suspicious and likely started sometime after Lebanon EMS crews drove by the property on the way to another call shortly before midnight.
Crews from Sanford, North Berwick and Alfred were called in to assist with fighting the fire.
