A home on Little Sebago Lake in Windham was destroyed by fire Aug. 5.

The Windham Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 67 Woodland Road. around 8 p.m., according to Fire Chief Brent Libby.

On arrival, the crews found heavy smoke coming from the building and heavy fire in the basement and part of the first floor. It took crews an hour to get the fire under control, and several more hours of overhaul.

The homeowner was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening burns. Two firefighters were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion.

Libby said the fire started in the basement.

A group of boaters at the Mount Hunger Boat launch assisted firefighters with setting up a water supply, Libby said. He extended thanks to the boaters and neighbors of 67 Woodland Road for their help.
