I fly an American flag every day and am proud to do so. As for the state flag, no, thanks – I’m not proud!

The things that are happening throughout Maine and the way the media treats Gov. LePage is embarrassing. I don’t care if he is a Republican or a Democrat, he deserves respect for the office. I didn’t vote for him, but that doesn’t mean I can’t address him as “sir.”

Maybe my folks brought me up better than most Maine people were raised. I don’t like our president, but I would show respect.

State lawmakers act like kids who are mad because they didn’t get what they wanted for Christmas. (I hope I didn’t offend folks by saying “Christmas” instead of “Dec. 25” – which is another embarrassment!)

I am old enough to remember when Maine was a better place – the way life should be. But for now, I will keep my state flag in the cellar.
