The York County Sheriff’s Office says there was a burglary and two possible attempted burglaries in Acton on Thursday.
The burglary occurred on Saunders Lane, where a woman returned home and found an intruder inside her house. According to the sheriff’s office, the man, described as white, about 6 feet tall with brown hair and crooked teeth, ran off after being confronted by the homeowner. They said he fled in an older-model vehicle, royal blue, with Massachusetts plates.
The sheriff’s office believes the man used a ladder found on the property to climb to a second floor-window, where he pushed out an air conditioner to get inside the house. He stole golf clubs in a gray golf bag, children’s New Balance sneakers and a black folding knife.
The sheriff’s office said it believes two women tried to get into two houses on Newbridge Road in Acton. They said the women, possibly in a red Ford Taurus, tried to enter house but were apparently frightened away by a barking dog. At a second house, they were unable to gain entry for an unknown reason and left.
The sheriff’s office said both women were white and one had black hair and the other brown hair.
