WELLS — The Shoreline Explorer, a public – private network of trolleys and buses, is celebrating its 11th year of operation, offering ways for local residents, adults and children, as well as summer visitors, to get around without having to drive and find parking.

The routes operated by YCCAC include the Blue Line, operating from the Wells – Ogunquit line where it connects to the Ogunquit Trolley to downtown Kennebunk; The Purple Line, running from Perkins Cove, Ogunquit to Short Sands Beach where it connects to the York Trolley; The Aqua Line, starting at the Waterhouse Center in downtown Kennebunk, extending to Lower Village where it connects to the Intown Trolley and the beaches; and the Orange Line, the only route in the Shoreline Explorer that is year-round service, running from downtown Sanford to Wells / Wells Beach, with connections to the Blue Line, and stops at the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport and the Wells Regional Transportation Center with Amtrak and Greyhound service.

The fares for the Blue Line, Aqua Line, and Purple Line are $1 for a one way trip, $3 for a day pass and $10 for a 12 trip multi-pass and can be purchased from the drivers. A Commuter Pass is also available at a reduced rate for people working in the communities served by the Blue, Aqua and Purple Lines.

The 2016 season runs from June 25 through Labor Day. For more information on fares and schedules, go to shorelineexplorer.com.
