The second “Everyone Hearts Raymond” family event features a new date and some new tunes.

This year’s daylong festival is planned for Saturday, Aug. 6, and features a parade, contest, games, vendors and music by the New England Jazz Band. With a big-band sound, the group will play classic jazz tunes from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The free event is organized by the Raymond Revitalization Committee and sponsored in part by the town.

The family festival will begin with a parade down Main Street starting at 10 a.m. The parade will feature antique cars, the town fire department and local businesses. Those walking in the parade will gather near 71 Main St. and proceed to Sheri Gagnon Memorial Park on Mill Street. Registration for the parade is available on the event’s Facebook page.

The festivities will continue at the park starting at 11 a.m. Face painting, a bounce house and dunk tank, as well as a pie-eating contest and craft vendors, will be available until 2 p.m.

Carrie Colby, president of the Raymond Revitalization Committee, said Tuesday the committee is still searching for volunteers to help run the games.

“It’s just a fun, family thing,” she said, “we’re going to do corn hole, face painting, silly things like that.”

The event was held for the first time last year on July 4. For its second iteration, Colby said, the committee decided to hold the event on a weekend when no other towns had their local festival.

Going forward, Everyone Hearts Raymond will always be held the first Saturday in August.

The revitalization committee got the idea for Everyone Hearts Raymond from surrounding towns, including Casco and Harrison, that host yearly town festivals.

“We hadn’t had anything like that in a long time,” Colby said, “and we thought we needed a community festival.”

Last year, between 500 and 800 people attended the festival, Colby said. This year, she looks forward to “great attendance and good weather.”

“We’re just trying to build the event year by year,” she said.
