Club seeks members

Established in 2015, Standish Fish & Game Club, a family-oriented club for outdoor enthusiasts, meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Steep Falls Fire Barn on Boundary Road.

The next meeting, Aug. 3, may include a site walk of part of the club’s 300-acre property just up the road from the Fire Barn.

The growing club is always looking for new members. Show up at the meeting to find out more about it and how you can help it grow and serve you.

The club’s goals are: to promote, preserve and improve the natural resources and habitat of the area, with emphasis on game animals, birds, and fish; to further local interest in outdoor activities, with special emphasis on hunting, fishing and shooting sports; to encourage and promote safety, education and training in all outdoor sports; to promote landowner relations; to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in creating and maintaining respect for game and firearm laws; to teach youth the ethics of the outdoors and to conserve precious natural resources, since they are the future stewards of the outdoors.

Club officers are Greg Sirpis, president; Dick Bernier, vice president; Dan Dyer, treasurer; and Ian Moriarty, secretary. Board members are Lance DeRoche, Nick DeRoche, Mike Doiron, Les Howard and Paul Politz. Contact any officer or board member at standishfishgame@gmail.com. You can also find the club on Facebook.
