GRAY – It’s blazing hot in northern New England but it’s not record-breaking hot.

The National Weather Service says the temperature hit 90 degrees Friday across much of the region.

The temperature had climbed to 96 in Concord, New Hampshire, and 94 in Burlington, Vermont, and Portland. But that pales in comparison for the record for the date: Both Portland and Concord hit 100 degrees on the same date in 2011.

Andy Pohl from the National Weather Service said the hot weather was accompanied by a threat of thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening.
