Central Maine Power crews worked Tuesday to determine the cause of a power outage that affected 13,600 customers in Franklin County at midday.
It was the second widespread power outage in Maine in as many days.
The outage in Franklin County was first reported shortly before noon Tuesday, CMP spokeswoman Gail Rice said. Electricity was restored to most affected customers within a half-hour of the outage, and power was restored to all customers by 1:13 p.m.
A problem along the transmission line coming from a substation on Farmington Falls Road could be the cause of the outage, Rice said, though crews were working to determine exactly where along the line the problem occurred.
The outage affected customers in Avon, Chesterville, Farmington, Freeman Township, Highland Plantation, Kingfield, Lexington, New Portland, New Sharon, New Vineyard, Salem Township, Strong, Temple, Vienna and Wilton.
On Monday afternoon, an outage caused by a faulty transmission line that feeds Aroostook County from New Brunswick initially knocked out power to about 25,000 Emera Maine customers.
Some of those customers lost power for just a few minutes. Everyone’s power in the Emera Maine service area had been restored by 5:45 p.m. Monday, according to Emera spokesman Bob Potts.
