U.S. Sen. Susan Collins is considered by many to be the most bipartisan senator in Congress, but I have often doubted that. I thought she pretty much voted the party line even though she talks about compromise. I was pleased to see her lead this bipartisan effort toward gun restrictions for possible terrorists. Kudos to her on this Republican hot-button item.

I hope she can continue to support reasonable legislation to reduce gun violence throughout the country: in our schools, on our city streets and in our homes. She probably won’t turn me into a Republican, but I will be willing to vote for her in the future, and I’ll vote for any other candidate who supports gun control.
