PARSONSFIELD — Police have identified an apparent drowning victim who was found floating unresponsive Saturday in the water of Long Pond.
Damian Campbell, 24, of Parsonsfield, was found floating in the water near the boat launch around 1:45 p.m., according to the York County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s deputies and rescue units from Sacopee, Fryeburg and the Maine Warden Service were called to assist, York County Sheriff William King said in a press release. Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate Campbell for more than an hour, but were unsuccessful.
Police have not yet determined the exact cause of death, and are awaiting an autopsy.
