Scarborough athletic director Mike LeGage Monday named Phil Conley the school’s new boys’ basketball coach. Conley had a highly successful run as South Portland’s boys’ coach between 2008-15, winning 108 games, leading the Red Riots to the 2013 Class A state final and being named Forecaster Coach of the Year twice. Conley is a graduate of Deering High School and New England College. Conley replaces Tony DiBiase (as he, coincidentally, also did at South Portland). DiBiase guided Scarborough to a 6-13 mark last winter.
“We had a very good pool of qualified applicants and the interview team agreed that Coach Conley was the right fit,” said LeGage. “He joins an outstanding family of coaches here at Scarborough. His expertise will provide our student-athletes with the best opportunity to learn important life skills essential for success on and off the court.”
