This summer three popular movies will be screened. Pizza and snacks will be provided.
Build Life-Size Lawn Games
Thursday, June 30, 3 p.m.
In anticipation of our Summer Reading Program which starts July 1, teens are invited to make life-size versions of popular games and pre-registering for the summer reading program. In addition to making classic games like Scrabble, Ring Toss, Bowling, and Pick-Up Sticks, teens are encouraged to bring their creativity and make versions of their favorite games. These life- size games will be played the following day, on July 1, for all library patrons to enjoy.
Lawn Game Afternoon
Friday, July 1, 3 p.m.
The Summer Reading Program begins with a lawn game extravaganza. Get in the game by playing life-size versions of popular games outside. All ages are welcome to participate.
Summer Reading Program
July 1-Aug. 13
Kids age 3 to entering fourth grade are invited to participate in the “On Your Mark, Get Set… Read!” Summer Reading Program. Come by to register and to receive a bag with prizes and instructions on how to complete the program. Events are happening all summer long.
Tweens and teens entering fifth through 12th grade will “Get in the Game: Read” and earn raffle tickets throughout the summer to enter into winning a number of prizes and gift cards. Raffle tickets will be earned for every two hours of reading, every hour of volunteering, and/or every time you attend a library program. Each Friday from July 8th through Aug. 12, the library will give away prize baskets and at the end, grand prizes! Raffle tickets will roll over from week to week, so keep reading to increase your chances of winning!
Toddler Storytime
Tuesday, July 5, 1:30 p.m.
Ages 2-5 years old and their caregivers are invited to meet Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings for stories, songs, and movement, all followed by a craft.
Mad Science: Olympic Madness!
Wednesday, July 6, 10:30 a.m.
Explore the FUN-damentals of the science of sports with Mad Science’s Olympic Madness. Make colored flames with a combustible reaction. Discover the wonders of air pressure in a Tug-of-War challenge. Become a gymnast and perform an experiment about the center of gravity.
Crafty Kids
Wednesday, July 6, 3 p.m.
Every Wednesday, a drop-in art project. From paint chip mosaics to sun prints – all materials will be supplied and all ages are welcome.
Lego Club
Friday, July 8, 3 p.m.
Participants are invited to build whatever they like, and the library will display the creations for a week. Attendees are welcome to bring Legos from home, or to use the library’s supply.

Adult Summer Reading Program
June 20-Aug. 29
Kids shouldn’t have all the fun. With the first day of summer comes the first day of the Adult Summer Reading Program. Stop by anytime to pick up a reading log and a complimentary prize for registering. Read five books and return your reading log before Aug. 29 to be entered into a drawing for a $125 gift certificate to Joshua’s Restaurant in Wells.

Can’t decide who gets grandma’s quilt collection or the generations-old dining room set? Come hear Milda Castner, probate attorney with Bergen & Parkinson, LLC, detail how to handle the sentimental items when crafting a will. There will be a short presentation followed by a question and answer session.
Book Talk
Tuesday, June 28, 6:30 p.m. Eric Jay Dolin, author of “Brilliant Beacons: A History of the American Lighthouse,” presents a comprehensive history of American lighthouses, telling the story of America through the prism of its beloved coastal sentinels. Set against the backdrop of an expanding nation, “Brilliant Beacons” traces the evolution of America’s lighthouse system, highlighting the political, military, and technological battles fought to illuminate the nation’s hardscrabble coastlines. Dolin presents tales both humorous and harrowing of soldiers, saboteurs, ruthless egg collectors, and most importantly, the light-keepers themselves. Copies of the book will be available for sale.

Songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist, harmonica player and vocalist Jeff Merrow performs as a solo act, but he has also played with a multitude of bands all over the state. Come hear Jeff sing and play his guitar; he is sure to entertain.
Walk the Trails: The History of Laudholm Farm
Friday, July 8, 10 a.m.
Delve into the rich history of Laudholm Farm with a docent-led trail walk. From learning about Native American life to English settlement, from farmland to estuarine reserve, this half-mile walk is open to all ages. Participants must provide their own transportation to Laudholm Farm at 342 Laudholm Farm Road in Wells. Registration is required.
