SCARBOROUGH — Henry Curran struck out 14 batters to lead Yankee Ford to a 5-2 win over Libby Mitchell in a Zone 3 American Legion baseball game on Saturday.

Curran pitched six innings to earn the win, allowing four hits and walking two.

Sam Troiano and Nate Ingals each had two hits for Yankee Ford. Troiano scored twice.

Bayley Walsh had three hits and an RBI for Libby Mitchell.

STAPLES CROSSING AND WELLS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER: Liam Bell had three hits and two RBI in the first game leading Wells to a 7-6 win over Staples Crossing in Zone 4 action in Wells.

Charlie Bell and Cody Cousins each added two hits.

Zachary Hodges had three hits including a double in the second game to lead Staples to a 6-3 victory. Ryan Sousa had two hits for Wells.

JUNIOR LEGION

MORRILL POST 15, SACO 0: Riley Haffon hit a two-run single as Morrill Post (2-1) scored eight times in the third inning to beat Saco (1-2) in South Portland.

Haffon went 3 for 4 with four RBI for Morrill Post. Gordon Whittemore added a two-run double in the third inning.

Jake Poole earned the win, allowing two hits and striking out six in four innings.

Caden Horton added a two-run single.

SUMMIT NATURAL GAS AND POST 14 SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER: Dominic Morrill struck out seven and allowed just two hits to lead Summit Natural Gas (2-1) past Post 14 (3-1) 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader in Fairfield.

Ben Norton hit the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning.

In the second game, Post 14 overcame a 3-0 deficit in the first and recovered to win 5-3. Riley Parlin of Post 14 pitched six innings and allowed three runs to pick up the win. He also had a triple. Kobe Nadeau and Issac Target each had a double for Post 14.

THIRSTY TURF 6, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Justin Ray struck out 11 and allowed just four hits to lead Thirsty Turf (2-1) over Cape Elizabeth (2-1) at Cheverus High School.

Ray also had two hits and an RBI double, while Ryan Benedict added an RBI double during a three-run fifth inning.

Carson Sullivan drove in Cape Elizabeth’s only run with an RBI double in the sixth inning.
