Each year at Relay For Life York County, participants and donors remember loved ones lost to cancer and honor those battling the disease by dedicating luminaria.
Luminaria, paper bags containing votive candles, are transformed, and illuminated after dark. Each luminaria is personalized with a name, photo, message or drawing in memory or honor of a friend or loved one who has been affected by cancer. Luminaria can also be dedicated in support of a Relay participant. Each luminaria candle represents a person, whether they be someone’s family member, friends, coworkers, or another loved one.
The Luminaria Ceremony will take place at 9 p.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
