PORTLAND (AP) — A former U.S. Postal Service worker has pleaded guilty to stealing prescription narcotics intended for outpatients of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Maine.
The Sun Journal reports 37-year-old Jennifer Leighton of Auburn entered the plea Tuesday in a federal court in Portland.
Federal officials say Leighton worked for the postal service in Auburn between July and September 2015. Court records say she stole at least six packages of prescription narcotic medications shipped from the center in Togus to outpatients.
Officials say Leighton faces up to three years in prison. She will be sentenced after a pre-sentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
