CHEBEAGUE ISLAND — Two seats on the Board of Selectmen and two on the School Committee, all of which were uncontested, were filled in Tuesday’s election.

Selectman Jean-Louis “Bo” Beaupre received 100 votes and John Corson Jr. received 78. Stephen Todd was elected to the School Committee with 105 votes and Suzanne Rugh was re-elected with 90 votes.

All seats are for three-year terms.

Christopher Loder, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, and School Committee member Carol White decided not to seek re-election.

The fiscal year 2017 budget of almost $3.2 million was approved by voters at the annual Town Meeting on June 11.

The budget is an increase of 8.5 percent, or $250,500, over current spending. It results in a tax increase of 7.5 percent, which brings the tax rate to $16.65 per $1,000 of assessed value.

The overall budget includes the municipal and school budgets, along with the Cumberland County assessment. The municipal budget is $1.9 million, the school budget is $1.1 million, and the county assessment is $131,000.
