PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — New Hampshire’s Seacoast Media Group has launched a new radio station offering 24-hour programming that listeners can access via an online stream.
Broadcasting out of the Pease International Tradeport, EDGE Radio made its debut on edgestreamingradio.com on Sunday.
Director of Broadcasting Rob Connelly says EDGE Radio is attempting to create “a radio station that sounds like a newspaper.” Topics range from news and weather to sports, all focusing on New Hampshire’s Seacoast region and southern York County in Maine.
The goal of the station is to use the same resources that produce content for Seacoast Media Group’s Portsmouth Herald and Foster’s Daily Democrat to generate a full-service radio station.
Connelly says streaming radio is still a fairly new concept for newsrooms to get involved with, but Seacoast Media Group has the talent to succeed.
