From Irish Moss to Ice Cream

For kids and adults alike. Discover
the many food products that contain
carrageenan, an extract of a red seaweed
called Irish Moss, commonly found
along the New England shorelines.
Join “Coastal Carol” Steingart of Coast
Encounters, LLC., for a fun and interactive look at this common seaweed
with unique properties. Themed games
will conclude with an ice cream social
with all ingredients containing carrageenan. This free event is sponsored by
the Friends of the Wells Public Library.

Alison Macrina

people about protecting cyber privacy
in today’s growing digital world. In this
computer privacy workshop, Macrina
will talk about what types of threats exist
and the many aspects of digital security.

“Secret Garden” Trail Walk with the
Kennebunk Land Trust
Friday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m.
Gordon Collins, a master naturalist
and volunteer for the Kennebunk
Land Trust, will lead a trail walk
in Kennebunk’s “Secret Garden.”
Participants should meet at the Wells
Public Library. Boots or sneakers are
needed, and bug protection is recommended. Registration is not required,

Adult Summer Reading Program
June 20-Aug. 29
Kids shouldn’t have all the fun. With
the first day of summer comes the first
day of the Adult Summer Reading
Program. Stop by anytime to pick up a
reading log and a complimentary prize
for registering. Read five books and
return a reading log before Aug. 29 to
be entered into a drawing for a $125
gift certificate to Joshua’s Restaurant in
