Two employees of Central Maine Power were in the right place at the right time Thursday when they pulled a man from his burning truck on Route 302 in Bridgton, then stayed to help clean up the downed power lines that started the fire.

CMP linemen Paul Reynolds and Andrew Grant were driving near Maple Street on Portland Road, also known as Route 302, when they saw a pickup truck careen into a utility pole, bringing the pole and its wires down onto the vehicle and starting a fire, according to a statement by Bridgton Police Chief Richard Stillman.

The driver was trapped but Reynolds and Grant pulled him from the wrecked truck just as it became engulfed in flames, Stillman wrote.

After the local fire department extinguished the flames, Reynolds and Grant stuck around, helping roll up and cut the damaged power lines.
