BREWER
Alana Weaver and Katelyn Cox picked up four hits each as the Mt. Ararat High School softball team rolled to a 12-2 Class A North preliminary win over eighth-seeded Brewer Monday night.
The Eagles improved to 10-7 and visit top-seeded Messalonskee on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in a quarterfinal. The Witches finished 8-9.
Weaver scored a run, drove in three and pitched a complete game on four hits and five strikeouts. Cox had two RBIs and scored once, while Zoe Stilphen was 3-for- 5, including a triple, and scored three times.
Sara Lamb and Nataleigh Ormsby chipped in two hits apiece, with Lamb adding a pair of RBIs, while Kelsey Scannevin drove in two runs, Kayleigh Temple doubled and scored, and Belle Benner singled and scored a run.
In all, Mt. Ararat pounded out 18 hits.
Jordan Goodrich was 2- for-3 with an RBI for Brewer.
Mt. Ararat faced Messalonskee (15-0-1) in the opening game of the 2016 season, falling at home, 11-0.
