Freeporters Izzy McClelland and Priyanka Miller won their battle with York’s Jenna Healy and Maggie Schofield in straight sets on Wednesday, May 25 – but they were the only Falcons to prevail that day, as the Wildcats ultimately emerged 4-1 victors.

“It was a really long last day,” said Freeport head coach Soph Lundberg.

In singles action, Mia Briggs defeated Charlotte Eisele 6-1, 6-0; Sarah Carley defeated Lindsey Dealaman 6-1, 6-4; and Elizabeth Spiller defeated Caleigh Breton 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.

McClelland and Miller triumphed 6-2, 7-5 over Healy and Schofield, but in the other doubles bout, Payton Morse and Robyn Jutras trumped Maya Dowling-Wolfe and Lucy Sandin 6-3, 6-1.

Freeport slipped on the road loss to 3-9, The Lady Falcons close their regular season in 11th, ahead of Lake Region (0-12) but behind Mountain Valley (5-7). Only the top nine teams earn playoffs berths, however, so the Lady Falcons will retire their rackets until 2017.
